RIDEAU2RICHMOND
Rideau2Richmond is an exploration into the sensory experiences of city life, articulated through a 28-track album that captures the essence of moving through Ottawa, particularly along the #2 bus route. This journey is not just about movement but about the sounds, sights, and the rhythm of the city that accompany it. The project, initially a commission by Artengine and later brought to visual life with Ottawa artist Colin White, delves into the relationship between our urban environment and the music it inspires. It documents the eclectic mix of predictability and randomness, familiarity, and anonymity encountered in daily commutes. Rideau2Richmond serves as a sonic reflection of Ottawa's urban fabric, highlighting the transient yet impactful moments that define our interaction with the city. It's a project that not only aims to soundtrack a specific urban experience but also to critically engage with the idea of the city as a living, breathing entity. Through this work, I looked to capture the changing landscapes and narratives of Ottawa, preserving a moment in time against the backdrop of ongoing development and transformation.
